Abstract

Transition metal copper (II) Schiff base composite (CuNH2GO) was synthesized using functionalized graphene oxide with (3-aminopropyl) methoxysilane (APTMS). X-ray diffraction, FTIR spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analyses ascertained the incorporation of the copper (II) Schiff base on the functionalized graphene oxide. Scanning electron microscopy and TEM evidences further confirmed the surface morphology of the composite. Catalytic activity study indicated that the synthesized CuNH2GO was active for cross-coupling of aryl halide with phenylboronic acid. Above 84% (4-Iodobenzonitrile) biphenyl conversion could be achieved using CuNH2GO catalyst in the CC coupling reaction.
