Abstract
The copper content of stream sediments shows a simple lognormal distribution; the mean content and range of values are appreciably larger for two streams draining known copper-bearing areas than for the two standard streams. Close to the source of copper, the dispersion pattern in soils becomes complex. The range of values and degree of irregularity are greater for waters than for sediments. There is a linear relationship between mean and variance for stream sediment and soil samples.
