Abstract

Copper-chelated bacteriochlorophyll e homologues have been identified in laminated sediment from the meromictic Lake Abashiri using atmospheric pressure chemical ionization liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry. Since they are the second most abundant chloropigment derivatives in the sediments, these novel compounds may be important intermediate products of BChl e diagenesis in this anaerobic environment.
