Abstract

The copolymerization of aziridine (Az) as nucleophilic monomer and succinic anhydride as electrophilic monomer without initiator in solution under different mol ratio was investigated. Copolymers were characterized by elemental analyses, i.r. and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. For all feed mole ratio of comonomer, Az is incorporated preferentially in the copolymer. For the soluble copolymers it is possible by 1H-NMR spectroscopy to determine the Az-homodyad concentration. The copolymerization reaction occurs by an intermediate “genetic zwitterion”.
