Abstract

Copolymerization of ethylene and higher 1-olefin over supported vanadium catalyst was studied. VOCl 3 after immobilization on the magnesium carrier [MgCl 2 (THF) 2 modified with Al(i-Bu) 3 ] and after activation with Et 2 AlCl was used as a catalytic system. The effects of the type of comonomer (1-hexene, 1-octene, 1-decene or 1-dodecene) and its concentration in the reaction medium on the yield of copolymerization, on incorporation of comonomer, and on some properties of the reaction products (molecular weight and its distribution, melting point, crystallinity) were investigated. The findings were compared to those available from analogous studies which had been carried out earlier with the use of the same catalyst immobilized on an unmodified magnesium complex.
