Abstract

A higher rate of type 2 diabetes (T2D) among South Asian diaspora may be attributed to visceral adiposity, insulin resistance, a Westernized lifestyle including a reduction of physical activity. The Indian ethnic group in Australia had been identified as “at especially high risk” by the Victorian Government in its 2007-2010 Victorian Strategic Framework for Diabetes. And yet not much is known about the health behaviours of these groups in Australia.
