Abstract

The increasing demands on wideband satellite services and wider band transponder architecture have imposed research on the full-wave electromagnetic (EM) design of wideband output multiplexer (OMUX) for satellite payload subsystems. In this paper, three common spurious mode effects existed in the design of a waveguide manifold multiplexer, namely cavity higher-order mode resonance, manifold higher-order resonance and the spurious phase dispersions of channel filers, are investigated. The remedies for coping with these spurious effects are also discussed. The dispersion problem facing the design of a wideband OMUX dual-mode cavity filters is also studied, all through accurately designed full-wave EM models.
