Abstract
This research examines the effects of system compliance on the achievement of size in the centreless grinding process. Work has been carried out on incorporating a compliance model into an adaptive control strategy. A prime objective was to optimise the process in order to reduce cycle time. The strategy takes account of the machine compliance, the variable nature of the grinding forces and of compliance due to thin wall components.
