Abstract

Currently, people who document and publish data do so in printed journals, displaying their results in graphical or tabular form. This is an effective way to publicize the existence of validated observations or model results and to present some selected characteristics of the data. However, it is not reasonable to use this medium to exchange the information content of typical geophysical data sets for others to study.
