Abstract

Introduction: Arginine Vasopressin (AVP) measurement is technically demanding in clinical routine and therefore often not performed. Copeptin, the C-terminal part of the AVP prohormone, is stoichiometrically secreted together with mature AVP. Due to a several day long ex vivo stability, copeptin can be readily assayed in serum or plasma.
