Abstract

Five species of taeniacanthid copepods were collected from seven species of marine fishes of Taiwan. They are: Taeniacanthus acanthocepolae Yamaguti, 1939 on the gill filaments of Acanthocepola limbata Valenciennes; T. anguillaris (Devi & Shamasundari, 1980) on the gill filaments or in the gill cavities of Plotosus lineatus (Thunberg); T. balistae (Claus, 1864) on the gill filaments of Aluterus monoceros (Linnaeus); T. lagocephali Pearse, 1952 on the gill filaments and gill cavities of Lagocephalus wheeleri (Abe, Tabeta & Kitahama) and L. gloveri (Abe & Tabeta); and T. neopercis Yamaguti, 1939 on the gill filaments of Parapercis sexfasciata (Temminck & Schlegel) and P. multifasciata Steindachner & Doderlein. All five species are reported for the first time from the waters of Taiwan.
