Abstract

Lappert and Srivastava (i) have isolated the addition compounds of some amino metallanes. However, the complexes of amino organoxysilanes have not yet been reported. The addition compounds of amlnotributoxysllane with Lewis acids have been isolated and their infra-red s~ectra studied to throw light on their structure. ExPerimental Amlnotributoxysilane (b.p. 296°/750 mm) was prepared as reported (2). Molecular weight of this compound was determined in dry benzene cryoscoplcally (Found 288, C12H29031~SI required 263). Tin (IV), titanium (IV) and arsenic (III) chlorides (Reldel Pure) were distilled before use. Alkyl phosphorus (III) chlorides were prepared as reported (S). They were purified by fractional distillation. 0 Et2PCI (168-59°/758 mm) and n-BuPCI 2 EtPC12 (113-15/750 ram), ( 156-87°/780 ram)o P repsratlon of .Addition Compounds Tin(IV), titanium( IV), arsenic(III) chlorides and ethyl,diethyl,n-butylphosphorus(III) chlorides in carbon tetrachloride were added dropwise to aminotrlbutoxysilane in equimolar proportions in the same solvent. The reactions wlth tin(IV) and titanium(IV) chloride s~ re exothermic, ~eactlon mixtures were cooled from time to tlme during addition. The reaction mixtures were then refluxed on a
