Abstract

AbstractThe clinical success of metallodrugs is rapidly increasing. The historical use of cisplatin and recently a successful marketing of its clinically advanced derivatives (oxaliplatin, carboplatin, nedaplatin, lobaplatin and heptaplatin) for the treatment of various types of cancer has opened new horizons for metal based drugs. Complexes of cobalt, gold, ruthenium, palladium, manganese and even arsenic are either being marketed or close to get success in clinical trials for the treatment of various diseases. Current review compiles the advances on manganese complexes and their biomedical applications. A possible structure activity relationship has been discussed.
