Abstract
This chapter will examine the processes of coordination in the relatively fragmented core executive. The previous chapter highlighted the strength of resource-rich departments in the policy process. Their autonomy raises the question of how the core executive is coordinated if departments are responsible for most policies. Indeed, notions of governance suggest that problems of coordination will only become greater as the central state fragments further.
