Abstract

The coordination between nuclear power units and power grids is very important for the safe and stable operation of both nuclear units and power grids. Based on a complete mathematical model of pressurized water reactor (PWR) nuclear power plant (NPP) developed for power system electromechanical transient, mid-term and long-term dynamic simulations, the dynamic performance of the NPP with respect to grid voltage and frequency disturbance is analyzed, and the interaction and coordination between NPPs and power grids are studied. Thus, the principle and scheme of the coordinated protection and control between large-capacity NPPs and power grids are proposed. The results of this paper can be used as a reference for the optimization of parameters, the study of coordination between NPPs and grids, and their safe and stable operation.
