Abstract

This paper presents stability improvement of power system using coordinated design of damping controllers. The main objective of this work is to minimize the rotor speed deviation of the machine. A Single machine infinite bus (SMIB) is considered for analysis. The system performance has been analyzed under different operating conditions. The parameters of damping controllers are obtained using Grey Wolf optimization (GWO) algorithm. The responses obtained using GWO is compared with other three competitive methods to show the efficacy of the suggested approach. It was found that GWO method is capable to suppress power system oscmations effectively.
