Abstract

2-D coordinate transformation resonators based on transformation electromagnetics are proposed. The proposed resonators are with the shapes and effective media parameters coordinate transformed from arbitrary different shaped resonators. The resonant modes including higher order modes are determined not by physical shapes of the resonators but by shapes, media parameters, and boundary conditions of their original resonators. Proposed coordinate transformation resonators are designed and implemented on a dielectric substrate with microstrip-line technology using the distributed full-tensor anisotropic metamaterials. It is experimentally confirmed that resonant characteristics of the implemented resonators are determined by dimensions and boundary conditions of original resonators and the unloaded Q-factors hardly depend on the coordinate transformation.
