Abstract
This paper investigates the performance of amplify- and-forward cooperative relaying schemes in Rayleigh fading channels for various cases of available channel state information (CSI). Suboptimal receivers are examined for cases that optimal receiver cannot be employed due to lack of global knowledge of CSI. Results are presented for channel-inversion and constant- amplification relay strategies and for suboptimal receivers with local CSI and optimal receivers that exploit global knowledge of CSI. Numerical results demonstrate that suboptimal coherent receivers with local CSI can still achieve substantial power and diversity gains.
