Abstract

Among different techniques that provide mobile positioning, using the Received Signal Strength (RSS) is regarded as a low-cost solution which is applicable in a wide range of wireless networks. In this paper, we propose a cooperative RSS-based positioning algorithm that utilizes the additional RSS data of the short range communications between mobile stations (MSpsilas). We use a nonlinear least square optimization approach, to estimate the location of the adjacent mobile stations. Simulation results indicate that cooperation between mobile stations enhances the location accuracy of the RSS-based positioning algorithms.
