Abstract

A photocatalytic system based on the cooperative effect of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was established. Here, β-CDs were covalently grafted onto the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles through hexamethylene diisocyanate bonds. The structure and photocatalytic properties of the resulting photocatalysts were characterized by various analytical methods. This modification resulted in a 2.7-fold improvement in the degradation efficiency of the pure TiO2 for methylene blue (MB) and showed good stability in cyclic degradation experiments.
