Abstract
Abstract During late March and April in each of two years, channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) stocked in pens with golden shiners (Notemigonus crysoleucas) and Tilapia aurea grew faster than did equal numbers of only channel catfish stocked in identical pens in the same pond and fed at the same rate. The other species seemed to stimulate feeding by the channel catfish, which were generally lethargic at water temperatures that prevailed during the experiments (11-21°C).
