Abstract
Our goal is to introduce and to study the convolution product for distributions. In order to explain the difficulties which will arise there we discuss first the convolution product for functions. Also for functions the convolution product is only defined under certain restrictions. Thus we start with the class C 0(ℝ n ) of continuous functions on ℝ n which have a compact support.
