Abstract

The Naoshima Smelter has employed the convert er slag flotation method in order to increase reverberatory smelting capacity instead of returning slag to the reverberatory furnace. As the result, we could point out the following advantages; 1) Copper anode produced from copper concentrate was increased 25%, from 3,000T/M to 3,800T/M. 2) Magnetite trouble in the furnace was decreased. 3) The reverberatory furnace campaign was extended. 4) 700T/M of copper concentrates containing 23% copper and 5,000T/M iron concentrate (65% FeO) were recovered in the flotation plant. 5) Flux costs have been decreased. 6) There has been a marked decrease in slag losses.
