Abstract
The blocking performance of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) all-optical networks can be improved by employing wavelength conversion. In this paper, we study wavelength converter placement problem in wavelength-routed WDM networks with dynamic traffic demands. It is considered that under different routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) algorithms, the path usage probabilities are significantly different. Therefore, in this paper the converter placement algorithm and RWA policies are considered jointly.
