Abstract

Galloalumino-silicate (Si-Al-Ga) catalyst was found to be more selective than Zn/H-ZSM-5 for aromatization of n-hexane. In order to quantitatively evaluate the role of Ga in Si-Al-Ga, rate constants of n-hexane conversion over Si-Al-Ga were determined. On basis of results of kinetic analysis, the high catalytic performance of Si-Al-Ga in n-hexane aromatization was ascribed to its much higher activity for dehydrocracking of n-hexane, dehydrogenation of lower paraffins, and formation of hydrogen molecule from hydrogen atom, compared to Zn/H-ZSM-5. Life tests of catalysts with various external surface areas were conducted. It is found that greater the external surface area of zeolite, lower the deactivation rate, and that the life of catalyst would be expressed as a function of the external surface area of zeolite.
