Abstract

Conservaziones were held this year on 7 May and 25 June. At the first conversazione twenty-one exhibits and two films were shown. On the second occasion the Society was honoured by the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother who was greeted by the Lord and Lady Mayoress of Westminster and welcomed by the President and Lady Blackett. Officers, members of Council, Professor W. D. M. Paton and their wives were presented to Her Majesty in the Entrance Hall and then the President invited Professor Paton, Chairman of the Soiree Committee, to conduct Her Majesty on an inspection of the exhibits. As a memento of the occasion a bound album of photographs taken on the Royal Society/ Royal Geographical Society expedition to Brazil was presented to Her Majesty.
