CONVERSATION ANALYSIS OF MUHAMMAD (PBUH) IN THE LIGHT OF THE MODEL PRINICIPLES LAID DOWN BY THE DISCIPLINES OF LINGUISTICS AND COMMUNICATION

Abstract

With the refinement and research in the field of ethics and the introduction of newer disciplines, knowledge of conversation ethics and successful communication has stridden forward. Specialists in the fields of linguistics and communication offer newer perspectives of looking at the dynamics of good manners and effective communication and their positive effects during conversation. Muhammad (PBUB) who, according to the Muslim belief, has been sent by the Almighty as a model to be followed by the rest of humanity, has a claim to the zenith of good manners and effective communication in conversation. He demonstrated high standard of conversation manners and effective communication and whatever was advised by Muhammad (PBUH) regarding them can be found in His own practice in the highest degree. The present research evaluated the high conversation manners and principles of Muhammad (PBUH) in the light of the principles of good manners and effective communication arrived at, after numerous researches and developments in the field of linguistics and communication. Discourse analysis of the Ahadith regarding his conversation, to the exclusion of the verses of the Holy Quran about it, was carried out. The analysis discloses that all the latest developments regarding high manners and effective communication in these disciplines are not only in close agreement with the principles of conversation practiced and recommended by Muhammad (PBUH) but can also be seen enjoying perfection in the conversation of Muhammad (PBUH).
