Abstract

The analysis as a stationary method of the spatial domain decomposition (SDD) technique with several enhancements is studied in this article. In particular, we consider two of the most popular modifications of the SDD method: (i) extension of the domains and (ii) introduction of a relaxation parameter. Despite both modifications, we show that the method can still be formulated as a stationary method and, therefore, the convergence study can be derived from the iteration matrix. Several examples for three-dimensional geometries are considered to check the validity of the formulation. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
