Abstract

Although the debate over convergence has been fuelled by two observed trends ‐ the harmonisation of labour market conditions and the adoption of new models of employment and production ‐ these developments seem to be going in different directions. The article distinguishes between the context of employment relations and generic changes in production paradigms and examines how the interactions between them are being played out in Europe.
