Abstract
Cis-[PtCl2(PPh3)2] and [PtCl2(PP)] (PP = Ph2P(CH2)1, 2 or 4 PPh2) are synthesized by treating H2[PtCl6]·H2O with an excess of phosphine in EtOH; by the same procedure, except for the presence of aqueous formaldehyde, trans-[PtCl2(PPh3)2] can be prepared. By pressuring H2[PtCl6]· 6H2O and an excess of PPh3 with carbon monoxide and molecular hydrogen in EtOH trans-[PtHCl(PPh3)2] is obtained; in the presence of propene, even without molecular hydrogen, trans-[PtCl(COPrn)(PPh3)2] forms. All the above complexes are prepared in good yield.
