Abstract

We introduce a 1+1 probe of S(1D) at 216.9nm through the (4s 3So) state, and demonstrate it in one-color experiments to examine the photodissociation of OCS using DC slice imaging. As seen in previous work, the S(1D) image shows a bimodal distribution corresponding to two dissociation pathways of the parent molecule. The slice images are rotationally resolved across the entire product velocity profile. Separate two-color experiments allow us to determine that the probe is insensitive to orbital polarization in the sulfur atom under the conditions studied.
