Abstract
The bistability of a nonlinear optical resonator is significantly influenced by the competition between the dispersion and convection processes in the system. To derive an expression describing the phenomenon requires an analysis of the nonlinear intracavity wave dynamics in the all-fiber ring cavity in the presence of convection. The analytical description for the competition mechanism is presented in terms of the switching wave dynamics of a Fisher-Kolmogorov equation.
