Abstract

Convective processes accompanying crystal growth are classified. An approach to the mathematical simulation of these processes is presented and applied to growth under terrestrial and space conditions. Examples are given of oscillations in temperature and concentration fields under terrestrial conditions, and of convection-induced macrostratification under conditions of microgravity.
