Abstract

Urine drug screening (UDS) is a tool often used in a comprehensive treatment plan-even though it may cause harm to patients with mental health disorders. This article analyzes nurses' use of UDS in inpatient mental health services and offers strategies to develop policy and practice guidelines that ensure patient safety.
