Abstract

Diverticular disease of the large bowel is known to be associated with a variety of unusual complications. We report the case of a non-resolving peridiverticular colonic abscess in a 50-year-old male who presented with a three-week history of abdominal pain, low-grade fever and dysuria. MRI revealed sigmoid colon diverticulitis and a small abscess abutting the posterior urinary bladder wall. We also discuss management issues of Hinchey’s Class II disease.
