Abstract

This paper discusses several precast segmental box girder bridges where substantial undesired twists were observed during erection. Comparison of casting yard data and erection measurements indicated the excessive twist problem originated during geometry control in the casting yard. The sensitivity of normal control procedures is illustrated and rcommendations for a check procedure to control such twists is given.
