Abstract

The temperature in elements of the I-beam during its cooling was measured by attaching Chromel--Alumel thermocouples i0 mm apart to the middle of the shape about its perimeter. A lO00-mm-10ng specimen with thermocouples connected to 12-channel automatic potentiometers was placed in a gas-fired furnace and heated to 1000~ The specimen and thermocouples were then extracted from the furnace and placed on the hot bed of the rolling mill. The specimen was cooled by one of two methods: I) At room temperature, with natural aeration of the ambient air; 2) accelerated cooling with compressed air delivered from slit-type nozzles to the middle of the flanges of the I-beam.
