Abstract

The single-machine-infinite bus (SMIB) power system exhibits chaotic oscillation when the amplitude of the power of the machine falls into a certain area. A passive controller is first presented, which transforms the chaotic SMIB power system into an equivalent passive system. And then it is proved that the equivalent system can be asymptotically stabilized at any desired fixed points. Moreover, an adaptive law is introduced into the designed controller to eliminate the influence of undeterministic parameter. Simulation results show that the proposed controller is very effective.
