Abstract

The optical spectra of a five-level atom embedded in a photonic crystal are studied by considering the double-band photonic band gap reservoir with defect modes in the band gap. It is shown that some interesting phenomena such as absorption, transparency, normal or anomalous dispersion, and large amplification of a weak probe field can be observed by modulating system parameters.
