Abstract

This paper develops a control scheme of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG)’s rotor side converter (RSC) and grid-side converter (GSC) with self-synchronization approach. It is implemented in a virtual synchronous reference frame (VSRF) rotating at the nominal frequency speed $\omega _{1}=100\pi rad/s$. Then, the voltage phase angle and the phase-locked loop is not needed for grid synchronous reference frame (SRF). As a result, the self-synchronization can be achieved. Meanwhile, the grid- connected currents of the generator and the GSC are directly regulated on the basis of the instantaneous power theory. This can reduce the parameter dependency especially for the RSC. Finally, the experimental results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the control scheme of DFIG’s RSC and GSC with the self-synchronous approach.
