Abstract

On-vehicle motor traction system of dc 670 V / 240 kW of hybrid electric vehicle has higher power of a few ten times than conventional combustion automotive and its 10 kHz high voltage switching causes electromagnetic interference within vehicle to induce communication malfunction in battery management system of high voltage battery. This paper proposes electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) control strategy for hybrid electric vehicle to countermeasure electromagnetic malfunction and to supervise a series of development processes of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design, manufacture and test consistently. This is designed to control EMC performance of vehicle via repetitive reviews and evaluations during development. E3 controlled vehicle shows electromagnetic trouble due to conducted emission is resolved and radiated emission still remain further work issue.
