Abstract

Various passive-type control means for wind-induced vibrations of civil engineering structures (mainly bridges) are reviewed. Control means discussed primarily are, Aerodynamic means·Tuned mass dampers (TMD) including Tuned liquid dampers (TLD) and·Non-tuning type dampersApplication of such means to actual structures are also presented. Effectiveness and design of TMD to wind-induced self-excited vibration are discussed in some detail.
