Abstract

In this paper, a model using RLC circuits with variable capacitance is used to control the vibration of a hinged-hinged beam supporting unbalanced machine capable of a limited power output. The modelling of the controlled system is based on the variational principle. Using the numerical simulation, the system is found to show saturation phenomenon leading to the effectiveness of the control characterized by the reduction of the amplitudes of vibration of the mechanical structure. The mathematical approach is then used to give some analytical expressions of the results obtained from the numerical simulation.
