Abstract
Campylobacter is regarded as a leading cause of bacterial food borne infection in many areas of the world. Campylobacter enteritis in humans is characterized by a large number of sporadic cases rather than single-source outbreaks. Infection can be acquired by a number of routes. However, Campylobacter enteritis in humans is considered to be mainly food borne. Direct and indirect epidemiologic data indicate that poultry meat is the most important source of human cases of campylobacter enteritis. This evidence provides the justification to focus control measures primarily along the poultry meat chain. Keywords: Food Borne Infection; Bacterial Infection
