Abstract

Fractional order PID (FOPID) controller has two more parameters than PID controller: integral orderα and differential order μ, and this enhances difficulty to parameters tuning. In this paper, FOPID controller and PID controller are designed by using improved particle swarm optimization algorithm and they are applied to the cascade double loop control system of superheated steam temperature. For integer order object, the optimization results show that FOPID controller is close to PID controller and simulation results show that the cascade double loop control system of FOPID controller has a slight advantage in disturbance rejection ability and robustness and have the same control effect in tracking.
