Abstract

With the loss of the endosulfan on melons, this trial was designed to evaluate the efficacy of several neonicotinoid alternatives against adult sweetpotato whiteflies and the associated incidence of cucurbit yellow stunting disorder virus (CYSDV) in spring melons. Cantaloupe plots planted with ‘Sol Dorado’ were established at the Yuma Agricultural Center on 20 March, 2014, and managed similarly to local growing practices. Plots consisted of a 84-inch bed, 45-ft-long with a 7-ft buffer between each plot. The study was designed as a randomized complete block design with four replicates per treatment.
