Abstract

This article presents a technique using optimal setpoint chasing for low-speed manoeuvring of a surface vessel in order to position a suspended load at large water depth. The analysis of the chasing algorithm is subject to various environmental conditions, water depths and load weights. The final trajectory is input to a reference model forcing the dynamic positioning (DP) system to follow a certain sequence of command signals.
