Abstract

Summary Pre-harvest spraying of trees with 500 – 1500 p.p.m. diphenylamine (DPA) in aqueous suspension, prepared either from a concentrated alcoholic solution or from a wettable powder, reduced subsequent development of superficial scald on Granny Smith apples in cool-store. Tree spraying was less effective than post-harvest treatment with DPA.
