Abstract

The use of piezoceramic transducers to control sound transmission through a convected fluid loaded plate is analytically investigated. The investigated system consists of an elastic plate subjected to convected fluid loading (i.e., aeroelasticity) on one side and coupled to an otherwise rigid acoustic enclosure on the other side. The control of sound transmission from the convected fluid side to the cavity is achieved by applying constant gain output feedback using piezoceramic transducers as sensoriactuators. A sensoriactuator is a single transducer which simultaneously acts as a sensor and actuator, thus providing significant stability and robustness advantages. Results demonstrate that such a control system can significantly reduce the transmitted sound. However, variations in the velocity of the convected fluid can reduce the effectiveness of such a control system.
