Abstract

This paper deals with the design and analysis of fractional order PID (FOPID) controller for a quadratic boost converter. The parameters of the proposed FOPID controller were designed using genetic algorithm optimization method. The FOPID has two additional parameters which increases the degrees of freedom. The performance of FOPID controller is compared with that of PID controller and the results were presented. The simulation was carried out using MATLAB/Simulink toolbox. The quadratic boost converter with FOPID controller provides good performance for the quadratic boost converter under dynamic and steady state conditions.
